Role Objective:
The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for overseeing cost accounting functions and driving cost efficiency in manufacturing processes. The role involves preparing and analyzing cost reports, managing cost control processes, and ensuring that cost accounting practices align with financial goals and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Analysis: Prepare, review, and analyze cost reports, including direct and indirect costs, overheads, material usage, labor costs, and manufacturing expenses.
Cost Control: Identify and implement cost control measures to improve profitability and operational efficiency. Work with production teams to reduce waste and optimize processes.
Standard Costing: Establish and maintain standard cost rates for products and services, ensuring accurate allocation of costs to finished goods and inventory.
Cost Forecasting & Budgeting: Assist in preparing and managing cost forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis for manufacturing operations.
Inventory Valuation: Oversee inventory accounting and ensure accurate inventory valuation using cost-based methods (e.g., FIFO, Weighted Average).
Reporting: Prepare regular cost analysis reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting areas of improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
Internal Controls: Establish and maintain strong internal controls over cost accounting functions and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, finance, and supply chain, to ensure accurate costing and effective cost management.
Costing System Maintenance: Manage and update costing systems to ensure they reflect the most current cost structures and business requirements.
Audit Support: Support internal and external audits by providing relevant cost data and ensuring proper documentation of cost transactions.
Required Skills:
Proven experience in cost accounting within manufacturing environments, preferably in the sanitaryware or ceramics industry
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex cost data
In-depth knowledge of costing methods (e.g., standard costing, activity-based costing)
Proficiency in Excel and other financial software (ERP, SAP, Tally, etc.)
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Strong understanding of financial statements, cost allocation, and inventory management
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and provide actionable insights
Strong communication skills to report findings to management
Preferred Skills:
Experience with ERP systems and cost accounting software
Knowledge of inventory management and reconciliation processes
Exposure to manufacturing cost control in a high-volume production environment
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or cost-reduction methodologies
Ability to drive process improvement initiatives related to costing and financial performance

Accuracy and timeliness of cost reports and analysis
Implementation and effectiveness of cost control measures
Reduction in manufacturing costs through process improvements
Variance analysis and management of cost discrepancies
